SUBANG JAYA – Project HOME, an initiative from Taylor’s Community Service Initiative (CSI) aims to raise RM 40,000 to build a home for an orang asli family.

Volunteer management assistant director Tan Vee Yen, 20, said they are aiming to raise the amount in three months from Aug to Oct.

“There will be 30 volunteers to build the house once the funds are raised,” Tan said.

Funds raised through Project HOME will go straight to Epic Homes.

Fundraising management committee member Ng Yew Keong, 21, said there is a donation drive going on as well.

“Students are encouraged to donate their unwanted books, accessories and household items that are in satisfactory condition to us,” Ng said.

When asked about the awareness of the donation drive among the students, Ng said the response so far is good and the students are quite receptive.

“There was a parent who donated 30 books to us, which is great because we now have a variety of choices for the book sale.

“There are also students who handmade dolls for us to be sold at RM35 each at the booth,” Ng said.

Besides selling books and merchandise, the booth also provides fun activities for students in exchange for prizes after making a donation.

The Project HOME booth in front of the Student Life Center will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 4pm until the end of October.
