ICT now offers compiled list of software

SUBANG JAYA - Locating the right computer for the software you need is easier now with software compilation provided by the ICT department.
The compilation is also available on computers in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus.
ICT Helpdesk senior executive, Kelvin Kow Kok Hwa said, “The list is changed regularly as software requirements for teaching purposes are updated according to the syllabus.” “However the list is not available on the Taylor’s online portal because it is constantly revised,” Kow added.
Out of all the 156 software listed in the compilation, Kow shortlisted them into Adobe Creative Suite (CS), Autodesk Building Design Suite Ultimate 2014, Ansys, Buildsoft, Delphi, Encase, Final Cut Pro, JMAG-Designer 13, Microsoft Office, Matlab and Opera.
A student from the School of Computing Kuhaneswaran a/l Jamilchelvan, 18, said that he often needs javascript programmes in his class, but he finds the available ones in the computer labs difficult to be used.
As such, he said he will need to bring his own laptop to his classes.
With the list of software available to students, they can find more suitable alternatives to the ones they find difficult to use.
Students can find the software listing placed on the notice board and iPad display in ICT helpdesk, which is open from 8am to 6pm located at Block D Level 7.
