David Blaine’s First Performance in Asia

By Olivia Tan May Shyan

KUALA LUMPUR – David Blaine made his debut in Asia on Malaysian shores where he performed fist-clenching performances at Stadium Negara in a 90-minute showcase.

Organised by LOL Events and Livescape Asia, the David Blaine ‘Real Or Magic’ Asia Tour 2014 was supported by Malaysia Major Events.

The performance started with a simple endurance performance of him gulping down three litres of water in a short amount of time, before adding petroleum hydrocarbon to the mix of which he spewed to ignite his initials on a ready stand.

“I’m still trying to be a magician. One day I will,” he jokingly said in a press conference held two days before the show.

“Most of my knowledge comes from books, friends and other great magicians from all over the world,” Blaine explained.

The show also featured French hip-hop dancer Salah Benlemgawanssa, French juggler cum magician Yann Frisch and American magician Todd Robbins during the intermissions.
