Emergency preparedness

SUBANG JAYA - Raventhran A/L Subramaniam, manager of Security & Environment, Health and Safety of Taylors University (TU) believes that the Lakeside campus is well equipped to handle emergencies and disasters.
“First aid training is conducted every year for staff only, and they are trained to give information about anything that we can think of facing,” Raventhran said.
“The ERT, or the Emergency Response Team is made up of a representative of staff from every department and they are responsible for following the procedures in whatever the case may be.”
In terms of recent widespread diseases, TU’s Environmental, Health and Safety department has arranged the campus to be fogged monthly.
This is because of the dengue and malaria issues that have been a national concern for the past few years.
Crime is also another issue that they are prepared for.
“We have transferred some of our local people who are security guards to the auxiliary police. We did this because this university is very open and there is the risk that anybody can enter,” said Raventhran.
He explained, “We also made arrangements with Bandar Sunway Police and other auxiliary police to help patrol our campus as well as provide our guards with training, such as identifying suspicious characters whether they are staff, students or visitors.”
